It gives me great joy to greet you as assistant principal of Riverdale Elementary School. Hopefully, your year has gotten off to a marvelous start with clear academic and behavioral expectations. Parents, as we’re beginning the second month of school, please take time to reflect upon the important role you play in helping your child have a successful school year. I encourage you to partner with your child’s teacher to gather information on your child as a learner and to help ensure your child’s success this year. A strong home-to-school partnership with frequent communication is of vital importance in building a meaningful instructional program for your child. I recommend you speak with your child each day about the academic and behavioral goals they’ve set for the year.

Our expectations are vastly high this year. They are high for me as the assistant principal of our school, and they are very high for each boy, girl, teacher, and parent in our community. Parents, it is very important that children are present and on time EVERYDAY! Instruction begins at 7:45 sharp! Children who are not in class by 7:45 AM will be marked tardy! If we want our children to be college and career ready, we must ensure they are present for instruction. Excellent attendance is the first step in preparing our children for success. Children must be present and on time for school in order to learn.

The dress code for the 2018-2019 school year remains the same. We will be reinforcing 100% compliance with our school uniform policy as a part of our efforts to continue improving the learning climate and safety of our school. For safety reasons, no sandals or heels are allowed. Friday of each week has been designated as the school’s Spirit Day.  On Spirit Days, students may wear traditional blue jeans (no holes/rips) and a jersey, school spirit shirt, or school uniform shirt.

We are very excited about the academic progress we made last year; however, we want to make sure that we are continuously striving for excellence. Please assist us by continuing to work with your child at home on a daily basis, attend parent conferences, support PTO, and participate in school events. Together, we can make great things happen.

At Riverdale Elementary School, your children will be safe, they will be respected, and they will learn. Believe and achieve with us!
